Book OnlineA root canal (also called root treatment or endodontic treatment) is needed when the inside of your tooth — the pulp — becomes infected or inflamed. This can happen due to deep decay, a crack, or injury. If left untreated, the infection can spread and lead to severe pain or even tooth loss.
Root canal treatment removes the infected tissue, cleans the inside of the tooth, and seals it to prevent future problems. It also allows you to keep your natural tooth, rather than needing an extraction.
You may need a root canal if you’re experiencing:
Not everyone experiences symptoms, which is why regular dental check-ups are crucial.
Root canal treatment is typically completed in one or two appointments, and we’ll ensure your comfort every step of the way.
Step 1 – Comfort first: We thoroughly numb the area to minimise pain during the procedure.
Step 2 – Clean and disinfect: The infected pulp is removed, and the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected.
Step 3 – Seal and protect: The tooth is filled and sealed. In most cases, we’ll place a dental crown afterwards to protect the tooth and restore its strength.
Thanks to modern dentistry, most root canals feel no more uncomfortable than getting a filling!
Some mild soreness is normal for a day or two, and we’ll give you tips for a smooth recovery. Most patients return to normal activities the same or the next day.
Once your root canal is complete and the crown is placed, your tooth will function just like your other teeth — strong, healthy, and pain-free.
